Varna University of Management, with the financial support of Varna Municipality, has created an informative poster featuring 6 easy daily changes that each of us can make to contribute to environmental protection.

The posters will be distributed throughout the university building, as well as among partner institutions. If you would like to display such a poster in your organisation, you can download the files at the end of the text.

Here is how everyone can live more sustainably:

  1. Reduce plastic waste: Use a reusable fabric or other type of bag every time you go shopping. This way, you save resources and help create a cleaner environment. In addition, reusable bags are available in a wide variety of colours, sizes, and designs, allowing you to choose a model that matches your style or expresses your identity.
  2. Give clothes a new life: Buying second-hand clothes reduces textile waste, saves resources, and supports more sustainable fashion. Second-hand shops offer thousands of great finds that, unlike fast fashion items, will not be owned by every other person. They are also often significantly more affordable. This is a solution with three benefits – you contribute to protecting nature, save money, and create your own unique style, different from mass trends.
  3. Choose walking or cycling for short distances: This is beneficial for your health, reduces harmful emissions, and protects the environment. Every driver knows how difficult it can be to find a free parking space. Save nature from unnecessary emissions and save yourself the stress of driving around looking for a place to park.
  4. Save energy: Turn off lights and electrical appliances when you are not using them, and do not leave devices on standby mode. Small daily habits lead to big changes.
  5. Use public transport: Buses and trains produce fewer emissions per passenger compared to private cars. By choosing public transport, you contribute to cleaner air and fewer traffic jams.On average, one bus in Varna has around 85 seats. This means between 21 and 85 fewer cars on the road when a bus is fully occupied. Imagine how much freer the streets could be and how much faster we could get to work or university if more people chose public transport.
  6. Separate recyclable waste: Dispose of paper, plastic, glass, and metal in the designated recycling containers. Proper recycling saves natural resources and reduces the amount of waste. The colours of recycling containers are not only for convenience or appearance. Take some time to learn what can be disposed of in each type of container. This way, yesterday’s plastic bottle can be given a new life – for example, as part of a new textile product or a household item.

The planet is our shared home, and we all have a responsibility to take care of it. It does not require enormous efforts to lead a more sustainable lifestyle – it requires willingness, motivation, and a commitment to making small but meaningful changes every day.

Because our actions today determine the living conditions of future generations.

The A4 poster design can be downloaded below in both Bulgarian and English. Its distribution is permitted provided that the original appearance of the material is preserved.
