On March 21, 2026, Varna University of Management (VUM) once again opened its doors to welcome future applicants and their parents. The event took place in the University’s Conference Hall, offering visitors the chance to learn more about various programmes, meet programme directors, faculty, and students, and participate in practical workshops to gain a better understanding of the teaching methods at VUM.

This edition was particularly special as it featured representatives from our long-standing partner, Cardiff Metropolitan University, with whom VUM offers dual-degree Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes. They joined online to discuss the partnership between the two institutions in detail, the requirements and criteria VUM meets to align with British educational standards, and the differences between higher education in Bulgaria and the UK.

Representatives from the Admissions Department presented the exclusive “10% Early Bird Discount” campaign for the 2026/2027 academic year, aimed at all 2026 graduates from Bulgarian high schools. Afterwards, the programme directors provided details on each specialty taught at VUM, highlighting the latest updates included in the curriculums.

The meeting continued with a Q&A session, where future students had the opportunity to meet personally with lecturers, current students, and university faculty and management representatives to find out everything they wanted to know about studying at VUM.

The Open Day concluded with two workshops:

  • Culinary Workshop in the training kitchen of the Culinary Arts Institute (CAI) at VUM. Led by Chef Hugues Boutin, Head Chef-Istructor and CAI Director, guests had the chance to immerse themselves in the magic of baking and leave with scones they prepared themselves.
  • “Idea Lab” Workshop, led by Eng. Irina Petkova, Programme Director and lecturer at VUM, who demonstrated how to create a new business model or a complete tourism product in an engaging way. Using dice, paper, and markers, participants created a “mind map” that helped them build a detailed business model for a profitable company within a specific economic niche in less than half an hour.

VUM thanks all the speakers, students, and guests who participated in the event on March 21, 2026, and promises new and even more exciting meetings with future students and parents during the upcoming editions of the VUM Open Day.
