The new academic year at Varna University of Management began with an induction session for our newly admitted students – an important first step in their academic journey at VUM.

The session gave the new students an opportunity to become familiar with the university’s key academic rules and standards, the principles of academic integrity, and the opportunities available to them as VUM students. They also had the chance to meet their Programme Directors, ask questions, and learn more about their studies.

The induction session opened with a welcome address by Dr Nina Zlateva, Academic Director of VUM, who introduced the students to the key principles and expectations related to academic life.

The session focused on VUM’s academic rules and policies, assessment criteria, and the importance of academic integrity. Students were introduced to the responsibilities that come with being part of an academic community, as well as the importance of consistency, engagement, and independent learning throughout their studies.

An important part of the session was the meeting between the new students and the Programme Directors of their respective academic programmes.

Students had the opportunity to learn more about the content and specific features of their programmes, ask questions, and discuss the expectations and opportunities that await them in the years ahead.

These first meetings are an important step in building a strong connection between students and the academic teams that will support them throughout their studies at VUM.

The new academic year also began with another strong reminder of VUM’s international character. The newly admitted students come from nearly 20 countries, including Cameroon, Mexico, Ukraine, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Russia, Vietnam, Syria, Nigeria, Morocco, Croatia, and others. With their arrival, the number of countries represented within the VUM student community has reached 60.

This diversity of nationalities, cultures, languages, and life experiences is an integral part of everyday life at VUM. Our international environment gives students the opportunity not only to learn from one another, but also to broaden their perspectives, build international connections, and prepare for careers in a global environment.

The induction session also introduced students to life both on and off campus. The Student Welfare Department provided useful information about student life, the support available at VUM, and upcoming initiatives and events.

For our newly admitted students, this is only the first step in a journey that will include academic knowledge and challenges, but also new friendships, international experiences, practical opportunities, and personal growth.

Welcome to VUM!

We wish all our new students a successful start, curiosity for new experiences, the courage to embrace every opportunity, and many unforgettable moments along the way!
