At the end of January 2026, Varna University of Management team members attended the kick-off meeting of the newly launched Erasmus+ Key Action 2 project entitled SAVOR (project number 2025-1-ES01-KA220-HED-000350651). SAVOR stands for Sustainability and Value in Organic Resources and brings together six institutions from across the EU, including VUM.

The project aims to bridge the gap between agriculture and gastronomy by promoting circular economy practices within restaurant kitchens and the sustainable use of organic resources. In particular, SAVOR addresses the critical need to develop green skills among students enrolled in Gastronomy and Culinary Arts study programmes and to raise awareness of the transformative role of zero-waste cooking.

Already in its first year, the project will directly engage with at least 500 students, teachers, and professionals from the hospitality sector. Ultimately, SAVOR seeks to strengthen sustainability education the participating institutions while proactively promoting the reduction of the environmental footprint throughout the food production and consumption cycle.
