We are pleased to share the experience of Victor Yanev, an MBA student at VUM, who recently took part in the Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) “Project and Grant Management – from Theory to Practice” hosted by VSB – Technical University of Ostrava, Czech Republic. This program brought together students, researchers, and professionals from different academic and cultural backgrounds to explore the principles and practical applications of project and grant management within the European funding landscape.

Victor reflects on his time at the BIP in Ostrava as a transformative experience that significantly enhanced both his theoretical understanding and practical skills in EU-funded project management. Here is what he shared about his participation:

“My time at the BIP in Ostrava was an incredibly enriching experience that provided me with in-depth knowledge of EU funding processes – from grant applications to project execution. Beyond the technical expertise, the program honed my project management skills, refined my leadership approach, and broadened my perspective on working with EU grants. The networking opportunities were invaluable, allowing me to connect with researchers and professionals from diverse backgrounds. I highly recommend this program to anyone looking for a hands-on learning experience, cross-cultural collaboration, and practical insights into EU-funded initiatives.”

The Blended Intensive Programme format combines virtual learning components with an intensive short-term physical mobility experience, allowing participants to develop their skills in an international environment. Through interactive workshops, case studies, and group discussions, students gain first-hand knowledge of managing European-funded projects, which is increasingly valuable in today’s global business and research landscape.

At VUM, we strongly encourage our students to take advantage of such international opportunities to expand their academic and professional horizons. Participating in programs like BIP provides invaluable exposure to real-world challenges in project and grant management while fostering meaningful cross-cultural connections.
