In April 13-20, Assoc. Prof. Todor Radev (Rector of Varna University of Management) together with the Directors of International Cooperation and Academic Affairs visited the Republic of Philippines for the 4th Partner Meeting under the BEEHIVE Project – “Building entrepreneurial ecosystems to add value to higher education and better realization after graduation”.

The first part of the trip was in Manila, where a meeting and discussion was held with representatives of the University of the Capital – MAPUA, one of the three Filipino higher education partners involved in the project, together with University of Cebu and Baguio (St. Louis University).

The meeting was officially opened by the president of St. Louis University – Gilbert Siles. The first day continued with a report on the project progress made. Training was done for all partners on a variety of topics, including Idea Space – the eco-system for business ideas, as well as crisis management training.

The partners that participated in the meeting were representatives of universities from Greece, Indonesia, Iceland, Italy, Ireland, the Philippines along with the Philippine Start-up Foundation, as well as an Irish business incubator.

Part of the VUM group’s visit included a discussion on the opportunities for academic partnerships aimed at mobility (exchange) of students between universities in the Philippines, double diploma programmes, and opportunities for Filipino students to study in Bulgaria.
