The XVth edition of the International Conference “The science in help of business. Modern problems of the science, business, education and tourism“, dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, took place from 3 to 5 July 2019 at Varna University of Management. The conference was officialy opened by Prof. Dimitrina Kamenova, Director of the Department for Modern Educational Methods at VUM and Assoc. Prof. Silvena Dencheva, Coordinator of the Regional Academic Center – Dobrich of Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The conference was attended by academics, professors and scientists from the UK, Russia, Ukraine and Bulgaria. There were 40 scientific papers in four main sections – “Educational Management”, “Economics and Management”, “Tourism” and “Student Research”.
The Plenary Report on “Sustainable Construction – New Demands to Engineering Education” was presented by one of the doyens of Bulgarian science – academician Yachko Ivanov at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. In the presentation of acad. Ivanov were introduced some of the challenges of the 4th Industrial Revolution, the solutions of the urgent environmental problems and the provision of sustainable development. The report followed the idea that the modern conditions require a change in building practice – a shift towards sustainable construction. The necessary competencies of the contemporary engineer were also mentioned.
The Plenary Report produced a discussion in the section devoted to the issues of educational management. The necessary modern competences of the specialists in the field of medicine and education were discussed, as well as the possibilities of differentiating the education in the secondary school following the example of the mathematics classes.
In the section “Tourism” the relation between the local tourist resources and the cultural tourism was presented. Discussed were also the tools for stimulating creative thinking as well as the social skills that pupils hold in Bulgaria and Croatia.
Attention has also been paid to modern information technologies, clarifying how digital marketing can help for the achievement of the business goals of the organization.
