With an emotional ceremony and a captivating atmosphere, the new academic year was opened at Varna University of Management. Among the main highlights of the event was the topic of internationalization and the international and multicultural environment that Varna University of Management provides to its students.

In the current 2022/2023 academic year, students from 27 countries from 5 continents (Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America) started their studies in bachelor and master programs at VUM, thus the total number of countries represented in the university exceeded 50 .

The event was opened with a solemn speech by the Vice Rector (Research) Prof. Dr. Stanislav Ivanov, who shared with those present his satisfaction with the successes achieved in the past year and wished all new students to make the most of the opportunities provided by the institution – high-quality education, practical experience already during the learning process, a multicultural environment allowing everyone to get to know the variety of nationalities, making contacts and friendships and countless fun moments shared within the student life.

A congratulatory address on behalf of the Mayor of the Municipality of Varna, Mr. Ivan Portnih, was delivered by Mrs. Lilia Hristova – Director of the Directorate “Education and Youth Activities” in the Municipality of Varna. With motivational speeches to the students joined Prof. Craig Webster from Ball State University, Indiana, USA and Mr. Emre Kiris – Manager of Aqua House Hotel and Spa, St. St. Constantine and Elena. Among the official guests was Mrs. Milena Angelova – director of “Alliance Française” – Varna, who was impressed that for another year nearly 30 students from France chose the Higher School of Management to conduct their mobility.

By tradition, the floor was also given to the students. On behalf of the student community, Miguel Kangoma from Mozambique, a student in the master’s program in Business Administration, congratulated his new colleagues. An emotional moment was the speech of Beartiz Maria Krause de Ramos from Brazil from the International Business and Management bachelor’s program, who spoke about her hometown in the South American country. According to Beatriz, she is the first inhabitant of her small town to go abroad for the purpose of education. In this regard, the young student officially gifted the flag of her hometown to the university, which is expected to become her second home.

At the end of the ceremony, all those present gathered for a group photo to immortalize the thrill and emotions that every new beginning brings.

The entire team of Varna University of Management congratulates all students on the beginning of the new academic year and wishes them a lot of new knowledge, strong will and perseverance and of course – unforgettable emotions!
