Varna University of Management (VUM) is a partner in the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education project “Sustainable Agri-Futures: Empowering Climate Resilience and Green Growth in Higher Education (SAFER)”, coordinated by the International Hellenic University (Greece). The partnership includes also the Uzhhorod National University and Kherson National University from Ukraine, the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport and Heliopolis University for Sustainable Development from Egypt, as well as the Al-Balqa Applied University and the Al al-Bayt University from Jordan.
The project aims to modernise higher education in the field of sustainable agriculture by integrating climate resilience, green growth, and digital learning into innovative academic programmes. SAFER brings together universities and stakeholders from Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa to address the complex challenges of climate change, agricultural sustainability, and entrepreneurship through interdisciplinary education and international cooperation.
Within the project, VUM contributes to the development of modular curricula, digital learning resources, and collaboration frameworks linking higher education institutions with agri-food businesses and local communities. The project supports students, educators, and professionals in acquiring future-oriented skills aligned with the EU Green Deal and the Sustainable Development Goals.
The SAFER project will be implemented from October 2025 to September 2028 and is funded under the Erasmus+ Programme.
