The President of Varna University of Management Assoc. Prof. Todor Radev, accompanied by a university delegation, visited the SVKM’s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) in the city of Mumbai, India. Representatives of the Consortium partners under the Harmony project -NMIMS, Varna University of Management (Bulgaria), University of Zaragoza (Spain), University of Liberal Arts (Bangladesh) and Daffodil International University (Bangladesh) were gathered in the hosting institution to sign bilateral memoranda of understanding (MoUs) aiming to reform business and professional excellence through educational and academic exchanges across the world. These MoUs will promote educational and academic excellence for multi-layered common benefits.

According to the agreement between VUM and NMIMS, the educational and academic exchanges would cover the exchange of students for study, research, and internships for short study tours. It will also include the exchange of academic staff for purposes of teaching and research, coordination of such activities as joint research, lectures, training, and development. Additionally, the MoU will facilitate the exchange of documentation and research materials in fields of mutual interest.

Dr. Ramesh Bhat, Vice-Chancellor, SVKM’s NMIMS, said: “One of the cornerstones of evolving partnerships would be to articulate the internationalisation landscape by leveraging on the cultural diversity to strengthen the integration of international and intercultural dimensions into the higher education curriculum. This shift is going to make learning powerful, accessible, and affordable. The approach will guide us to develop partnerships and extended stakeholder networks that will enhance the student learning experience and build complex skills much needed in a globalised future of work – work plans, workforce, and workplace.”

The Harmony Project addresses the process of Internationalisation of Higher Education (IoHE) (with focus on Internationalisation at Home – IaH) in Asian countries as the one that requires immediate institutional response and actions. Enabling Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to strategically manage internationalisation in the provision of education, research, mobility and services are regarded to be the project’s overall objective and the main underpinning of Partner countries’ accountable and complementary role in EU-Asia cooperation development. The project’s key target groups are academics, researchers, students and administrators who are participating or wish to participate in international collaboration. The overall objective of the project is to strengthen PC HEIs’ internationalisation capabilities and to develop students’ global competence through the integration of intercultural dimensions into PC HEIs’ formal and informal curriculum.
