From the 2026/2027 academic year, Varna University of Management (VUM) is introducing a distance learning format for its Bachelor’s programme in Hotel Management and Master’s programme in International Tourism. This new opportunity is designed for prospective students who wish to successfully combine their professional development with higher education.

The programmes are delivered entirely in English and allow students to study from anywhere in the world, while offering the flexibility to balance learning with professional and personal commitments.

The tourism sector continues to be one of the most dynamic industries, leading to an increasing demand for qualified professionals. In this context, distance learning provides an effective solution for those who do not wish to compromise between education and career.

With over 30 years of experience in training specialists in tourism and hospitality, VUM offers programmes with a strong practical focus, aligned with industry needs and international standards. This consistent commitment to quality and industry relevance is also reflected in the University’s recognition in prestigious international and national rankings.

In 2025, VUM’s Master’s programme in International Tourism was ranked 10th in the world by the Eduniversal Best Masters ranking. According to the Bulgarian University Ranking System 2025, VUM ranks second in the country in the professional field of Tourism.

The distance learning format is organised in accordance with the academic documentation of the respective full-time programmes and is fully equivalent in terms of curriculum content, required credits, awarded degree, and professional qualification. The learning process is conducted primarily through e-learning and digital platforms, providing remote access to academic activities, resources, assessment, and administrative services.

All semester and final examinations in the distance format are conducted online via an electronic assessment system. Where required by the nature of the programme, limited on-campus sessions may be included; however, these cannot exceed 15% of the total teaching hours of the respective full-time programme.
