In the period 28th October – 1st November Varna University of Management and International Management Institute will host “International Youth Academy: training of trainers for youth workers”. The event is organized under the “Empowering Change makers: Youth Social Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation in the Citizen Sector” project (SE-HUB), supported by the Erasmus + Programme, Key Action 2, Capacity building in the field of youth. The training will include 15 participants from Bulgaria and our partners – Colima University (Mexico), Catholic University and Cultural Association of Parana (Brazil), National Youth Council (Namibia) and Society for Living Literature (South Africa).

The training combines lectures, presentations, role-playing games, meetings and discussions with experts, researchers and practitioners. Within the first day, a meeting with representatives of the Directorate for Education and Youth Activities in Varna Municipality is planned and a visit to the Youth Center, where the participants will get acquainted with the local policies and initiatives for the benefit of the youth. Many meetings and presentations of successful social enterprises and innovative practices are envisaged, which operate not only in Varna but also throughout the whole of Northeast Bulgaria.

The focus of the project is on the creation and testing of social entrepreneurship training programmes and materials for non-profit organizations based on the experience in Europe but also useful for organizations in Africa and Latin America. Much attention is paid to the various training methods in the field of formal and non-formal education, which are determined to be most effective in working with young people and building personal skills.

In the long term, the project should lead to more and effective training opportunities for young people interested in social entrepreneurship and careers in the civic sector.

The official opening of the International Youth Academy will take place on October 28, 2019 (Monday) from 9:30 am in Hall 415 of Varna University of Management (13A, Oborishte Str., Fl. 4).
