Research by VUM: Hotel chains’ presence in a destination does not influence globalisation
One more interesting research carried out by the VUM lecturers!
Prof. Stanislav Ivanov, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs at VUM, and Dr. Maya Ivanova, Assistant Professor in Tourism at the university, investigated the impact of hotel chains on a destination’s level of globalisation (economically, socially and politically). The sample includes 132 countries.
The findings show that the presence of hotel chains in a country does not influence a country’s level of globalisation, regardless how chains’ presence and the level of globalisation are measured. Tourism policy implications, limitations and directions to future research are also discussed.
