Bulgaria is the 17th country where Harvard University’s prestigious copyright course is organized
For the first time, the city of Varna will host this unique training course, which gives the opportunity to experience the high-level education of one of the Ivy League Universities. The main organizer of the event is the International Legal Advice Center – ILAC – the official Harvard affiliate for the CopyrightX course in Bulgaria, in cooperation with Varna University of Management.
The CopyrightX course is under the auspices of the oldest university in the US, Harvard University, whose alumni are world famous personalities like Barack Obama, Bill Gates, John Kennedy, Al Gore, Mark Zuckerberg and many others. The training is entirely in English following a unique methodology developed by William Fisher III – Professor of Intellectual Property Law at Harvard University.
During the course, the American legal system for copyright protection will be explored and compared to the European and international ones. Issues related to the impact of copyright on the arts, the entertainment industry and the public (production rights, distribution, etc.), as well as the necessary changes in the EU copyright legislation will be also discussed. Participants will have the opportunity to debate on a number of high-profile court cases involving 20th Century Fox, Jay Zi, Beyonce, Google, and more. They will learn how global software companies protect their developments, how does the US copyright register work, and can we also take advantage of it, as well as is it possible to enter American prison for downloading torrents.
