On 12 June 2026, together with the Georgian Arts and Culture Centre (Georgia) and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece), Varna University of Management (VUM) is co-organising the BIOSUSTAIN International Seminar on Traditional Ecological Knowledge for Black Sea Basin Countries. The event will run in a hybrid format, with the on-site sessions at the Aristotle University Research Dissemination Centre (KEDEA) in Thessaloniki.

The international seminar will bring together researchers, experts, practitioners, and local stakeholders to discuss the preservation and sustainable use of traditional ecological knowledge, biodiversity protection, sustainable agriculture, food traditions, and community resilience in the Black Sea Basin region.

During the seminar, VUM researchers will present the Bulgarian Traditional Ecological Knowledge Study and will also participate in the round-table discussion dedicated to sustainable community practices and biodiversity conservation.

The BIOSUSTAIN project aims to contribute to the preservation of Black Sea Basin ecosystems through innovative approaches to traditional ecological knowledge, pilot studies, and capacity-building activities supporting local communities as stewards of traditional ecosystems.
